FAQ
Asked and answered.
These are the questions people actually ask, answered as plainly as we can. Anything not covered here is exactly what the Studio Call is for.
Process
Thirty minutes, on the phone or on video. You describe your space and your children; we tell you plainly whether the Design Plan fits — or that we're not the right studio for what you need. It's a conversation, not a pitch: nothing is designed yet, nothing has to be decided on the spot.
In order: the Studio Call, then a study of your children — ages, temperaments, how they actually play — then a study of the room itself, then the Design Plan (layout first, then storage, furnishings, and materials). If you proceed past design, furnishings and install run through licensed partners we coordinate (or partners you already trust using our build-ready package). You get a handover that explains why everything is where it is.
Yes. You see the full design — plan, elevations, and the reasoning behind every item — and you approve it before anything is ordered.
Investment
We don't list fees on the website. On the Studio Call we name the design fee for your room and talk finished-room ranges honestly — design is separate from furnishings and build. Limited founding / portfolio projects, when open, are explained on the call too.
The design fee pays Magic Playrooms for the thinking, the layout, and the full specification. Furnishings, materials, and build are separate because they are the cost of the physical room — and they vary by size, millwork, and finishes. Blending them into one brochure number hides where the money goes.
The study of your children and your room, the layout, the full design — plan, elevations, and an item-by-item specification — and the reasoning behind all of it, revised with you until you approve it. It's the work that makes the room a design rather than a shopping list.
If you move past design into a full make-it-real path with us, specified pieces are typically purchased through the studio or named partners so trade pricing, deliveries, and damage claims have one accountable path. You can also take a build-ready Design Plan to partners you already trust. We'll say which path fits on the call — we don't force a store on you either way.
Say so on the Studio Call. We'll tell you plainly whether the Design Plan is a fit for where you are — an honest no is fine. Most of what makes a room work for children still starts with thought, not more bins.
Logistics
Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Palm Harbor, Sarasota, and the surrounding communities. We're local on purpose.
Magic Playrooms is the design studio. Millwork and construction, when needed, are performed by licensed partners. We coordinate so the design intent holds through the build — we don't pretend to be the licensed builder of record unless that is contracted separately under the right entity.
Possibly — schools, pediatric and therapy practices, family-focused businesses, and community spaces. Commercial is scoped case by case after we know capacity and fit. Start with a Studio Call.
Working together
That's the normal case, and it's a design question rather than a problem. Different ages need different things from the same room — a three-year-old needs reach and permission to move; an eight-year-old needs territory and things that are theirs. The design gives each child a zone that answers their age and keeps the zones from fighting each other.
Rooms are designed for who a child is becoming, not just who they are now, so the core layout has years in it. Every project also ends with a handover that includes how the room adapts as your children grow — what to change, when, and what to leave alone.
One room is the normal case. Most of our projects are a single playroom, bedroom, or bonus room designed completely — then made real through partners if you choose that path.
